Jetze Plat

Jetze Plat is a Dutch Paralympic cyclist in the H4 class. Jetze was born with two stunted legs. In 1995, he started using a handcycle to cycle to school. Later he started practicing the sport para-cycling. When Jetze qualified for the 2012 Summer Paralympics in London, he worked as a mechanic for handcycles and wheelchairs. After this nomination, he became a full-time athlete. In the 2016 Summer Paralympics in Rio de Janeiro, Jetze competed in both para-cycling and para-triathlon. He won the para-triathlon Gold medal in the PT1 class. He also won a Bronze medal in the Men’s Road Race in the H5 class. These were his first Paralympic medals. On 18 November 2017, Jetze uniquely won two awards at the same time. He received the award for Triathlete and Para-triathlete of the Year. The wheelchair athlete from Vrouwenakker, The Netherlands, extended the world title in Rotterdam, became European Champion again in Kitzbühel and rolled over the finish line in October as the fastest para-triathlete at the Ironman in Hawaii.
In the video below Jetze talks about mental health and how it feels to win a World Champion title.
